Description

This is a beginner level class that covers the basic use of lathe tools and best practices with the lathe itself, focused on bowl turning. You do not need to have taken the spindle class before taking this class. During this class we will cover the different tools and how to sharpen them, as well as several different project mounting techniques. You will get to choose from several different bowl blanks that we have on hand, however you may also bring your own if you choose, so long as it is at least 4” x 4” x 2 ½” in dimension (though I recommend walnut, cherry, and maple. Certain species, mostly super-dense hardwoods (purple heart), and all oak species, will be harder to turn).
